A’s gender and identity may have finally been uncovered — for real this time!

Those of you Pretty Little Liars fans who still believed that Charles was alive and well were in for a shocking surprise during “She’s No Angel.” One glimpse of a tiny photograph turned out to be a game-changing revelation — that A is female and possibly Mona’s friend, Lesli Stone.

Mona Returns

Mona (Janel Parrish) may have been recuperating at a spa these last few weeks, but she was a bundle of nerves the moment she stepped back into Rosewood. Given that she was the one whose “murder” had put Alison (Sasha Pieterse) behind bars, Mona was paranoid that this former Queen Bee would want revenge. Little did she know that Ali was the least of her worries these days. Her old friend Lesli Stone (Elizabeth McLaughlin) cornered her at The Brew and made it clear that her little death stunt would come with some serious payback.

Later that day, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) spotted Mona placing an apology card inside Alison’s mailbox and took the opportunity to inquire about a young girl who’d been making regular appearances in her dreams lately by dancing around in a very creepy room. Thinking it could be a room they didn’t come across at Charles’ dollhouse, Spencer asked Mona if there could’ve been someone else trapped there besides them and Sara Harvey (Dre Davis). Mona claimed to know nothing about the girl or the room.

Tit-For-Tat

Sara, determined to sever ties with her mom completely, decided to take Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) advice and get legally emancipated from her parents. Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) warned her that it wouldn’t be easy, having gone through the process himself, but offered to give her a job at his website company so that she’d have a credible source of employment. (As if we needed another reason to think that he’s amazing.) To celebrate impending freedom, Sara and Emily went out and got tattoos.

Say Cheese!

Meanwhile, Aria (Lucy Hale) and Clark (Titus Makin Jr.) went to visit an old junk yard to take a few photos. Sounds innocent enough, right? Wrong! After sensing that someone was watching her, Aria noticed that Clark had actually captured A on camera without realizing it. She stole his negatives and upon further inspection realized that the shadowy figure looked distinctly like a girl. Dun, dun, dunnnn!!!

The Riddles of Radley

What do you do when you have a ton of questions? Break into the place that holds all the answers. And that’s exactly what Spencer and Hanna (Ashley Benson) did. In the hopes of discovering new information about Charles’ past, Spencer and Hanna broke into Radley and made a few interesting discoveries. They stumbled across a file citing that a currier took away Charles’ organs, further indicating that he really is dead and someone’s been impersonating him this whole time. But who?

After tracking down a suspicious noise (as one should always do in a creepy asylum), the girls found Mona trying to escape with a file — Lesli Stone’s file to be exact. Because guess what? She was a patient at Radley. That’s how she and Mona first knew each other, and given how long she was institutionalized, there’s a very good chance she knew Charles as well. Oh, and did we mention that she was also roommates with Bethany Young? Perhaps she blames Ali for Bethany’s death and thinks that the Liars helped her cover up the crime. The girls decide there’s only one way to know for sure. They need to catch Lesli in the act. Time to go on a spy mission!
