A shoot is attacking a 19th century basilica in the Western French city of Nantes, and has left only a shell of the roof.
The flame started soon after morning mass on Monday and everybody inside was immediately emptied, Father Benoit Bertrand of the Nantes bishopric told BFM TV.
Forty firefighters and airplane were sent yet the blazes immediately assaulted the housetop of the Basilique St Donatien, leaving only a shell.
“I see blazes as yet getting away,” Bertrand said.
Pictures of the noteworthy basilica indicated only the scorched stone curves crosswise over what had been the rooftop, with smoke and open blazes over the structure.
