A bomb squad securely pulverized a weight cooker found in a “suspicious” vehicle left unattended Sunday evening on the National Mall close to the U.S. Legislative hall building and the vehicle’s proprietor was found and captured, a U.S. Legislative center Police representative said.
Police Lt. Kimberly A. Schneider told The Associated Press that Capitol Police officers on routine watch detected the stopped, vacant vehicle on a road on the shopping center west of the Capitol around 5 p.m. Sunday.
