Just like the rest of the Fox Sports broadcast, reporter Holly Sonders had a rough U.S. Open, punctuating things with a two-question interview of winner Jordan Spieth that focused on whether he had packed an extra change of clothes in case of a playoff.

And now Sonders won’t be doing any more post-round interviews.

Aaron Kasinitz of PennLive.com reports that Fox Sports has reassigned Sonders for this weekend’s U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. She will host a 30-minute show on Fox Sports 1 after the third and fourth rounds, while Shane O’Donoghue will conduct the on-course interviews.

Fox Sports coordinating producer Mark Loomis insisted to Kasinitz that the move was a matter of logistics, not performance.

“We’re not reassigning Holly because she did a bad job,” he said. “I think Holly’s been great for us. It’s just that she can’t do both the postgame show and the interviews.”

Loomis also gave Sonders a vote of confidence.

“What I would tell Holly is that it was her first time doing an interview in that situation,” Loomis said. “She’s doing a lot of good things.”

After spending the first 17 years of his Post career writing and editing, Matt and the printed paper had an amicable divorce in 2014. He’s now blogging and editing for the Early Lead and the Post’s other Web-based products.
